Topic: Subply provides free closed captioning

At the college where I work, we've been adding captions to our videos. It can be a long process, since often the transcripts aren't available, and the audio needs to be transcribed. Today, I discovered Subply which provides free captioning (English) for YouTube videos less than five minutes long.

Just curious, has anyone used subply?

Deborah:

Never used or heard about it before today. I don't think we currently add captions or provide transcripts to our videos here on campus (I could be wrong though). What's the cost for the service as I don't recall seeing any pricing mentioned on their site if it's not a Youtube video?

Yannick,

Good question on the pricing model. I sent an email message asking about the pricing model; will let  you know when I hear back. At our college, we've added captioning to some videos (it was my first time ever adding captioning), and it was more time-consuming than expected. Since there were no transcription for the videos, the videos had to be transcribed before I worked with them to add the timing.
