Topic: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

For those blessed ones traveling to Austin, Texas in early March:

Rejoice!

Prior Godbit dinners in 2006 and 2007 have been fun and well-attended (last year included 40 people).

We currently in the planning stages, looking at Monday night, March 10.
Location to be determined.

Let us know if you're interested, excited or bummed.

Looking forward to seeing you all again!

Monday would work for me.  Would my wife and kids (9 and 11) "fit" as well?

Of course. Last year there were several couples, and ages ranged from 40-something to a baby in a stroller.

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

One of these days I'll make it to SXSW. In the past, I wanted to go because of music, but now I want to go because of all of the web-related stuff that seems to be happening there these days.

I feel a nostalgia for an age yet to come...

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

I wish I could come. I live in Arkansas. I guess if I had some plans in Texas at that time I would. sad Maybe you could post pictures or a video or something. I would love to see how it goes. lol I did check out one of the pictures from the 2006 dinner, I would stand out big timein the crowd.

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

I should be there, given I'm registered and have a flight. I'd love it to be at some sort of "local" Austin restaurant, instead of a chain/franchise. But hey that's me smile

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

I will, unfortunately enough, not be able to attend. One day!

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

Monday is superb! I will be there. smile And very much looking forward to it.

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

The Weblogs Team: (Mark Priestap, Erik Sagen, and Myself) will likely be there with bells on!

Hey Larry, are you still looking for a place to stay or were you able to find a hotel?

Thanks for asking... I think I have a room... pretty sure... Hmm. The guy said he'd smuggle me in if he had to. wink

No worries, I might have a backup.

Woohoo, just found out today that I get to go, employer counting it as training.

Glad to hear that, Nathan!

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

Drat. I was hoping to make it this year but I leave Monday morning!

I'm not on the forums at all (first post actually) but I know some of you through the web and I am a regular Godbit reader. If any of you guys go to one of our events please do introduce yourself and say hi! I'd love to meet you.

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

I'm glad Nathan can make it again this year, but disappointed Leslie's leaving early.
(Looking forward to the EllisLab events over the weekend, though.)

Quick update:
Ryan Heneise is working on the location, and we're currently thinking about using the same restaurant as last year.
As I remember, good food & service, provided a humongous long table, and within walking distance.

If you have any other location feedback or suggestions, let us know.

Leslie: I RSVP'd to the EllisLab events. I'm looking forward to them!

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

I'm totally in for the Godbit dinner!!!

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

I'm in.  Monday is fine with me also.  Montgomery, I can help identify indigenous-Austin-family-friendly-and-close-to-downtown restaurants if you need suggestions.

Excellent, thanks.

Ryan Heneise is working on the location, so I'll mention it to him....

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

Okay, Ryan asked me to make the reservation and I did.  Here's the Offical Upcoming RSVP Form to help us plan for attendance.  And I thought I'd throw in a prize for the person who travels the furthest to dine with us.  Are the Alaskans attending again this year?

We're back at TGI Fridays -- sorry it's not indigenous Austin, but it's hard to beat it for convenience, family-friendly, kid-menu-friendly, and large-crowd-friendly.  If the bats arrive before SXSW (don't hold your breath) you can view their departure from the Congress Ave bridge from the TGI Friday's patio at dusk.

Re: Third annual Godbit dinner at SXSW

Cool, thanks for all the hard work on the venue, guys. I'll get a post up soon on the front page of Godbit to get the word out.

EDIT: Thanks to Michael Montgomery for making a post on the main page.
