Rolling Hills Community Church

I’m not sure if you have heard of Project 83, but this talented groups of individuals know how to deliver a quality looking web site. Rolling Hills Community Church is a beautiful looking web site!

I really like the simplicity of the logo blended with the complex layering of the background that sits behind to content. Scroll down the site and watch how the gray/green scroll work attached to the content box stay in place while the background moves as expected – complex in a simple way.

At first glance, this site reminded me of some of the online scrapbook sites my wife has visited. The corners, looking like that of an over-sized table top calendar with their grungy like look are nicely done.

On the events page, the slide down effect, via Javascript, is a nice addition. I also like that I can enter my address into the text field box and immediately get directions to the Church via Google Maps. Service times and location are in a very easy to find spot, which I feel is very important and often overlooked.

There a few things I think they could have done that would have been nice. Currently, if Javascript is turned off, you won’t be able to see the ‘Event Details’ – no graceful degradation. There is also about 57 validation errors on that page as well. They are fairly simple fixes. The rest of the site has very minimal validation errors.

Code wise, there are some spots that could be improved upon. Design wise, Rolling Hills Community Church is absolutely beautiful!

Looks great. Wanted to take a closer look, but the site seems to be down.

    The following errors are displayed:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Unknown MySQL server host ‘’ (1) in /home/.heckel/rollinghills/rhcc/webadmin/modules/core/classes/db/Database.wac on line 15
Could not connect : Unknown MySQL server host ‘’ (1)

Wanted to check it out as well, not the best to let that error shine through – but im sure they are fixing it as we speak.
