First Baptist Church of Birmingham

What I like about this site is its straightfoward, clean simplicity. Along the same lines as the recent A List Apart redesign, it features highly legible Georgia for the headers, and good use of whitespace. I also really like the logo. The way it is angled seems to suggest that there is some activity involved, like as if the logo is about to take flight. It could even stand to be a bit bigger.

The whole layout fits comfortably in a width of 900 pixels. If I were to improve upon the design, I would make the menu a little more prominent, and utilize some more of the horizontal space that 1024×768 provides. As far as code, this is the cleanest validating yet, with only two errors keeping it from being completely XHTML 1.0 Strict. The first error was probably just caused by a typo. The second, resulting from an image border="0" can be easily fixed by adding a generic style rule: img { border: 0; }. All in all, this is a very good site.

Update: This site now validates as flawless XHTML 1.0 Strict.

Jeremy Flint is the architect on this web page. He does excellent work and is easy to work with. Another thought on the logo. We are a traditional church valuing traditional protestant orthodoxy. The logo attempts to capture this while at the same time remaining fresh with the times. Thanks for reviewing the page!
