I am happy to announce that since we started the Godbit Project a little over two months ago, the response and turnout has far exceeded my expectations. We recently had our 100th user register for the Discussion Forum. There had been some coversation around what we should do to celebrate, and it was suggested that depending on that individual’s interests, we should offer a choice of some web-related reading material.
True to our word, we are purchasing Programming Ruby for Brian Bailey of Grapevine, Texas. An avid writer, he is co-authoring the upcoming book Blogging Church. His blog can be found at LeaveItBehind.com. He leads the web team at Fellowship Church, which is currently being redesigned. He has been on their staff for five years in a number of different technology roles and now wears the Web Director hat. Their team is responsible for managing four websites and they have a passion for standards-driven development. Brian is married and has a 10 year old son, Ben.
FYI: If you are a web standards savvy Christian, you might be interested in a spot on Brian’s web team at Fellowship Church. Currently, they have openings for a Web Designer and a Web Developer. Also, if you are in the Dallas, TX area they often make use of freelancers as well. More about the specific job duties and requirements, as well as info regarding their church and ministry vision can be found on this discussion thread.
Anyway, congrats to Brian. It’s been an awesome few months for Godbit, and I hope to see us pass the 200 user-mark in 2006! As always, please continue to be in prayer that we can positively affect the way the web is used for ministry.
